Dhanwan is a 1981 Hindi film starring Rajesh Khanna in the lead role, paired opposite Reena Roy and produced by Sohanlal Kanwar.[1]The supporting cast includes Aruna Irani, Rakesh Roshan, Shakti Kapoor, Om Prakash and Vijayendra Ghatge. Rakesh Roshan was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor at the Filmfare Awards, the only one for the film. Reena Roy plays the role of a defiant widow who reforms the egotistical Rajesh Khanna in the film. The movie was a super hit grossing over 13.9 crores in 1981.

Ajay Devgan claimed he did not want to do the film. It was Mukesh Duggal who came to Ajay and asked for a favor. All actors were walking out of the film and Bokade needed to start the film fast. It was Ajay Devgans secretary who called other co stars secretaries to arrange the shooting dates.Bokade was in a mess. During the filming of the movie, Bokade asked Ajay to let go of the remaining amount owed to him as Bokade was having major financial problems. Ajay hesitantly agreed only to help Bokade. Ajay told Bokade to pay Ajay' s personal staff rupees 10 000 that was owed to them. Bokade promised but never paid. Ajay went on to say that the sound recordust and art director had also not been paid yet. Ajay got busy with Vijaypath and did not have time to dub. He asked Bokade to send the film to Banglore and he would dub the film there. Bokade complied as he knew he had to. Ajay sent a message to Bokade he did not want to his his face after this. When Ajay arrived back in Mumbai, Bokade had sent his car keys to Ajay stating he could not pay him anything as he had no money. Ajay said he was not fighting for his money, but the money owed to others in Dhanwaan. Ajay sent Bokade's car keys back with a note written in English and told Bokade's wife to read it so he could understand. Ajay Devgan knew the film would flop before it released due to so many in the films unit cursing Bokade and his fate .
