Oblivion Skill Up Sound: The Science and Psychology Behind It

Security is the skill that covers all forms of using lockpicks to open a persons locked fort or chest. Throughout the world you will find lockpicks on creatures (goblins and bandits tend to drop them, for example) and in chests, plus a couple of NPCs sell them to you. These can be used to pick locks on the chests and doors you find everywhere. Security is a stealth ability and is governed by Agility.

Watch the tumbler carefully as it pops up. It goes at two distinct speeds - very fast (almost immediately) and noticeably slower, about the speed the lockpick moves. How often it goes fast or slow is dependent on your character's Security skill and the lock difficulty. Seemingly short delays between pushing the tumbler produce more "slow tumbles" than pressing it repeatedly too.

If the tumbler pops up at a similar rate to the lockpick popping up, click the left mouse (PC), "A" (Xbox 360), or "X" (PS3) button after the top of the tumbler passed the upper cross shaft but before the tumbler starts falling (you can click as early as you want, but not too late). If you time it right, the tumbler will stay at the top of the chamber, and you can move onto the next tumbler. If you don't, the lockpick will break, the tumbler will fall and depending on your skill and the difficulty of the lock, other already-set tumblers may fall. As long as you click the mouse while the tumbler is all the way up (and not a pixel lower) the tumbler will stay up. Depending on the speed the tumbler happens to be traveling at, you may have as little as a tenth of a second, or as much as a whole second to click.

While this can be frustrating, the other side of the coin is that once you get good enough at lock picking it is possible to pick any lock in the game (except those that require a key), even with low-skill characters. Keep your cool and take your time.

I think many people don't think that the Everscamps give you experience points, but in fact, they do. I then leveled my block, blade, and heavy armor skills by about 20 points each before completing the quest.

Go to the Arcane University's Praxographical Center (northeast corner) and create a spell that does Bound Dagger for one second on self. You can repeatedly use this spell to raise your Conjuration skill above level 25, a level you'll need to achieve in order to get the free weightless Daedric weapons.Once your Conjuration is at level 25 or higher, make a new spell that will cast Bound Dagger and Bound "whatever weapon you want." (If you don't see the option to create a spell that does anything other than Bound Dagger, you'll need to make sure that you can actually cast the other bound weapon spell. If you can't, raise your Conjuration skill even higher.) Make sure that you add the Bound Dagger effect first, then add the second bound weapon effect. Set both effects for a duration of one second.Cast the spell you've just created and wait for the sound of weapons equipping. Immediately go to your menu and you'll see that the second bound weapon appears in your inventory. Simply drop the weapon and you can then pick it up to keep forever. The weapon has no sell value but it's weightless and pretty powerful. This bug can be repeated as many times as you like, giving you access to an infinite number of Daedric weapons.

You can raise most other skills without trouble, except perhaps, for Mercantile. Go to the tents in Kvatch. Equip any weapon and get on horseback. Once this is done, talk to the Orc woman with corn rows and sell the weapon to her. Your weapon will not be sold but you will get 200 gold every time you attempt this. It raises the mercantile skill while you make money. Win-win.Submitted by rikyyo

The gates generate a random plane of oblivion along with a random sigil stone. Go through the tower all the way to the top, till you reach the sigil stone. Simply save the game before the stone spawns and you can re-randomize the stone by re-loading the game, if it's not to your liking.

The Inn of Ill Omen is located Northwest of Bravil along the road. In the basement of it is a guy named Rufio. As long as you are reasonably quiet he will sleep forever allowing you to sneak around the room increasing the skill easily. Just put your guy facing a corner and rig the stick to keep walking and you gain a new level roughly every minute (early on). Note that if you killed Rufio as part of the Dark Brotherhood's quest, you won't be able to use this exploit.

Having trouble with strong monsters or opponents? Work a bit on your Alchemy skill and learn to concoct potions to "Damage Health". Combine such potions with your most potent weapon and hit your enemy a few times, then run off and cackle like a maniac while your quarry dies within minutes. (Repeat as necessary).

There is a way for you to get your sneak skill to rise very quickly in the game. When you have the option to join the theives guild by meeting Armand at the Imperial Water Front garden around 11 pm, accept his task. He will offer you the option to buy lockpicks. Don't buy any. Go into sneak mode and go behind him. Not only will you get the lockpicks from him for free, you can also repeatedly pickpocket him to build up your sneak skill and all he'll say is to go ahead, he doesn't need it anyway.

Overall, Eyes Of Oblivion is hardly reinventing the wheel. That is far, far from a bad thing though. What THE HELLACOPTERS are instead doing is taking their formidable musicianship and song-writing skill, taking a long hard look at everything they love about rock and roll, then turning around and proceeding to smash the ever-loving life out of it. It is both enormously refreshing and remarkably comforting to think that bands like them not only still exist, but are firmly keeping the faith and knocking out tremendous material. Welcome to your Friday night soundtrack for the foreseeable future.

Alchemy is one of the seven skills that make up the Magical Arts in Oblivion. This skill allows you to identify the different effects of all the ingredients that you find in Cyrodiil. These ingredients can then be used to make potions and poisons. The potency and price of the potions and poisons that you make is determined by your Alchemy skill level. Selling potions and poisons that you have created is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to get gold in the game.

Your Alchemy skill level also affects the strength (both magnitude and duration) of the potions you brew. Your Alchemy skill level is modified by your Luck (+5 Luck is equivalent to +2 Alchemy, maximum 100 Alchemy). However, only your character's base level of Alchemy and Luck are taken into account: magical enhancements or reductions (e.g., Fortify Luck, Drain Alchemy), whether from potions, spells, or equipment, have no effect on the strength of your potions.

As your Alchemy level increases, so too will the strength of your potions and the effects of Wortcraft (eating ingredients). To increase Alchemy, you will need to collect as many ingredients as possible so you can make as many potions as possible. For the purpose of skill training, you only need to have a Mortar and Pestle in your inventory.

So, if you are whipping up a large batch of Restore Fatigue potions from all the food you are carrying, if your first potion is made with a Watermelon and a Pumpkin, then all your subsequent Restore Fatigue potions will be abnormally heavy (5 pounds!), even if they are made with other lighter ingredients. It's quite possible due to this oddity that you will end more encumbered after an Alchemy session than you were before you started. Thus, the best practice is to use your lightest ingredients first, and only use the heavier ones afterwards. You also may want to hold a few light ingredients for each time your Alchemy skill level increases.

The price for which you can sell your potions (and poisons) is determined by your Alchemy skill level (modified by Luck) and the quality of your Mortar and Pestle. The number of ingredients, cost of the ingredients, number of alchemy effects, and quality (or even presence) of other alchemy equipment have no effect. The price of a potion can be calculated from:

The Effective_Alchemy is set by the character's base levels of Alchemy skill and Luck (i.e., completely ignoring any active Fortify, Damage or Drain effects), and has a maximum value of 100 and minimum of 0. (The only Fortify Alchemy alchemy effect that will make a difference is the Alchemical Brilliance spell of Frostcrag Spire's Altar of Alchemy; even with the altar, however, your maximum Effective_Alchemy is still capped at 100). Note that attributes such as Intelligence do not have any effect.

Those skilled in the Restoration field of magic arts can "restore, fortify, or absorb physical and magical attributes, cure disease, and resist magical attacks" (Official Elder Scrolls site). This takes the longest of all magic schools to train by oneself. The Anvil Mages Guild specializes in Restoration.

All characters in the game need a way to heal themselves. Be it stolen potions, beds, or homemade potions. Restoration allows the caster to vitalize themselves or others, as well as temporarily boost skills and attributes. Restoration helps increase Willpower which in turn increases the magicka regeneration rate. Restoration magic is the specialty of the Anvil mages guild chapter, and to a lesser extent, the Knights of the Nine. 2ff7e9595c
